Exciting summer festival line-up includes multiple 2009 Gospel Music Association honorees
High Point, NC, (May 1, 2009) – Premier Festivals is ready to rock the nation this summer with an all-star line up of high-profile Christian artists at music festivals near you. This incredible roster of Christian artists includes many who were awarded the Gospel Music Association's prestigious Dove Awards, at the 40th Annual Awards that took place in April.
One of the biggest winners at this year's Dove Awards was solo singer/songwriter Brandon Heath. Heath took home trophies for Male Vocalist of the Year and Song of the Year, for his single "Give Me Your Eyes." The smash hit song was also named Pop/Contemporary Song of the Year. Brandon Heath will be appearing at Carowinds' SonFest in Charlotte on June 13th, Dorney Park's SonLight Festival in Allentown PA on August 29th, and CedarPoint's PointFest in Sandusky OH on September 19th.
Kirk Franklin, one of Gospel Music's most celebrated performers of all time, was awarded Urban Album of the Year honors for his well-received album, The Fight of My Life. Franklin will appear at JoyFest urban gospel festivals throughout the U.S. on the following dates: Carowinds in Charlotte on May 23rd, Kings Island in Mason OH on June 20th, Kings Dominion in Doswell VA on July 18th, Worlds of Fun in Kansas City MO on July 25th, and CedarPoint in Sandusky OH on September 26th.
Another bestselling, critically and fan-acclaimed artist, rock band Third Day, was given the award for Pop/Contemporary Album of the Year for their latest album, Revelation. Third Day will perform at Carowinds' SonFest in Charlotte on June 13th, Kings Island's SpiritSong in Mason OH July 10th, and Worlds of Fun's HeartFest in Kansas City MO on July 18th.
Hip-hop artist KJ-52's song "Do Yo Thang" won the award for Rap/Hip-Hop Recorded Song of the Year. KJ-52 is appearing at Kings Island's SpiritSong in Mason OH on July 9th, and Kings Dominion's KingsFest in Doswell VA on July 11th.
Christian Music icon tobyMac won Long Form Music Video of the Year, for his DVD release, Alive and Transported. tobyMac will perform at Carowinds' SonFest in Charlotte on June 13th, and CedarPoint's PointFest in Sandusky OH on September 19th.
Rock band DecembeRadio won the award for Rock Album of the Year, for its album Satisfied. DecembeRadio will appear at Kings Dominion's Kingsfest in Doswell VA on July 11th.
Popular Texas-based worship group David Crowder Band was part of a group of artists awarded Special Event Album of the Year for Passion's 2008 release, God of This City. David Crowder Band will appear at Kings Dominion's Kingsfest in Doswell VA on July 11th.
