When it opened in 1989, the $8 million “Magnum” was the fastest, tallest roller coaster ever built. Since then, it has hosted nearly 40 million riders. The ride is now the third-favorite steel coaster in the United States, according to a recently released survey conducted by the National Amusement Park Historical Association. Cedar Point celebrated “Magnum’s” birthday as it opened for its 140th season on May 16th.
